If applicable, make appropriate name changes in all insurance policies and securities; see your insurance agent and banker.
If applicable, advise employers of your change of status, and check to make sure the two of you have full medical benefits.
If applicable, apply for a corrected Social Security card in the new name.
If applicable, notify your voter’s registration office of your change of name and /or address change for both of you.
Notify the Draft Board of the groom’s marriage. (If either of you is in the Reserves, notify your commanding officer.)
Insure all wedding gifts from the time of receipt, and be sure all household items are protected by insurance. Put a complete, detailed list of all items in a safe place.
Write (or rewrite) wills, and designate all joint ownership of bank accounts and property.
Assemble important records (such as birth and marriage certificates) and keep them in a safety deposit box.
If applicable, change your name on all charge accounts, credit cards, credit union accounts, bank checking and savings accounts. Make a list of all credit cards with account numbers and emergency numbers of offices to notify in case the cards are stolen.
If applicable, change the name and address of your auto registration and title and school records.
If applicable, make appropriate name and address changes on your driver’s license record at the Secretary of State Office.
Register at your new place of worship as husband and wife. If you are staying at St. Mary’s, notify us to change our parish records to reflect that you are no longer single and are now husband and wife, if this has not yet been done.
